About
Why We Build
At Southall’s Construction, we don’t build to check boxes. We build to last. Every beam, every joint, every finish is executed with the same level of precision and care—because a well-built home isn’t just about today, it’s about standing strong for decades to come.
We believe that true craftsmanship means taking the time to get it right. It’s about working with the land, not against it. Choosing materials that belong. Honouring the skills of the people who shape them.
Because when something is built well, you don’t just see the difference—you feel it.
From Brad
I learned this craft by doing. By cutting, shaping, and understanding how materials come together. Over the years, I’ve seen what separates a house from a well-built home. To me, true luxury is not found in extravagance, but in precision.
A home should feel effortless. The weight of a solid wood door. The seamless meeting of precision joinery. The kind of craftsmanship that doesn’t need to announce itself—it just works, lasts, belongs.
Not all homes are built that way. Many are rushed, built to meet deadlines rather than standards. Everyone at Southall’s takes a different approach. Patience, skill, and a commitment to getting it right—that’s what makes a home stand apart.

Building a custom home isn’t about trends. It’s about craftsmanship, precision, and integrity—the things that never go out of style.
Brad Southall is a second-generation craftsman, a Red Seal-certified carpenter, and a leader who believes that the measure of a home isn’t in the certifications behind it, but in the people who build it and the trust it earns.
At Southall’s Construction, we bring together a team of architects, timber framers, and master tradespeople—each one an expert in their craft, committed to the details that make a home not just built, but built right.
Because a home should do more than stand. It should endure.
Our Team
The foundation of Southall’s Construction is in the people who bring each home to life.
Building for the Future
Progress is about how we build. At Southall’s Construction, we align our work with British Columbia’s evolving building codes and aim to exceed them, ensuring that every home we create is designed with the future in mind.
The BC Building Code continues to evolve, prioritizing energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions as part of the province’s commitment to net-zero energy-ready buildings by 2032. A crucial component of this shift is the BC Energy Step Code, which establishes a phased approach to improving energy performance in new homes.
As of May 1, 2023, the BC Building Code mandates a 20% increase in energy efficiency for most new constructions—equivalent to Step 3 for houses and Step 2 for larger buildings.
Beyond efficiency, BC has introduced the Zero Carbon Step Code, a voluntary standard designed to cut operational carbon emissions, encouraging the adoption of low-carbon technologies and design strategies.
Future updates to the building code in 2024, 2027, and 2030 will bring incremental changes, guiding the industry toward the 2032 net-zero energy-ready goal. Local governments have the flexibility to implement more ambitious requirements through bylaws and policies, fostering leadership in sustainable building practices.
These advancements are not just regulatory changes; they are a shift toward a more sustainable, responsible approach to construction. At Southall’s Construction, we embrace this direction, integrating efficiency, sustainability, and innovation into everything we build—because a legacy isn’t just about standing the test of time; it’s about building a future worth passing on.
